TIL that J.R.R. Tolkien orginally set out to just create a language. Elfish. He then figured that that language needed a history. That history needed a world etc. Which eventually led to him writing LOTR in said world.

TIL killer whales use a hunting technique known as a "karate chop" against sharks. Using its tail it pushes the shark to the surface on a vortex, then raises its tail high in the air and slams it on the shark’s head. Then it flips the shark over causing tonic immobility, rendering it paralyzed.

More importantly Dogs also feel emotions love, jealousy etc which was previously thought to be only present in primates. They can even read people better than chimps one of our closest genetic neighbour
