TIL In 1965, a Ukrainian farmer dug up the lower jawbone of a mammoth. Further excavations revealed the presence of 4 huts, made up of a total of 149 mammoth bones. These dwellings, dating back some 15,000 years, were determined to have been some of the oldest shelters ever built

TIL in 2007, reigning Jeopardy! champion Scott Weiss purposely placed his final bet in such a way as to force the first three-way tie in the game's history. He said he knew he could have bet more and won the game, but thought it would be fun to force a tie instead.

TIL a Polish man received a building permit for a single-family home in the 1980s, he then spent his fortune building a 52-room castle, with 365 windows and 12 turrets. Once the authorities found out, they put an end to construction, he's still fighting with them now, 35 years later, to complete it.

TIL That in 2012 the University of Chicago received a package for "Henry Jones Jr" (Indiana Jones). Inside a replica of Indiana's notebook. Turned out that someone had ordered it online, it fell out the packet and a postal worker assumed the name/address on the notebook was the intended recipient

TIL of the Tulsa Center of the Universe. An acoustic anomaly located in Oklahoma. When one stands in the center of the circle and makes a noise, that noise is echoed back several times louder than it was made, but no one standing outside the circle can hear a thing.
